03 Carbon Black Market Impact Analysis
1. Upstream Raw Materials
Shandong region coal tar price: 5,450 yuan/ton; Shanxi region coal tar price: 5,410 yuan/ton; Hebei region coal tar price: 5,475 yuan/ton. The domestic high-temperature coal tar market remains in a wait-and-see mode. Although auction prices have been mixed, with both gains and declines, recent market positive factors continue to emerge. In the short term, the coal tar market is expected to have some upward room.
2. Carbon Black Supply
The operating rate of sample enterprises in the domestic carbon black market has declined. After the holiday, new order prices for raw material coal tar have shown a downward trend, and downstream tire enterprises have reduced their operating rates, leading to decreased market demand. This has caused carbon black enterprise operating rates to decline. A plant in East China has maintenance work on two production areas, and major manufacturers are operating at low load levels. Overall, carbon black market operating data has declined.
3. Downstream Demand
According to industry sources, some enterprises are gradually increasing their operating rates, but persistently high raw material prices are restraining the production capacity utilization of tire manufacturers to some extent. A few large enterprises maintain satisfactory operating rates with moderate finished goods inventory, primarily ensuring order fulfillment and routine product supply.
04 Market Outlook
The carbon black market is currently in a stalemate phase characterized by "cost-driven price support and demand-side constraints." On the cost side, new orders for raw material coal tar are showing an upward trend, with cost pressure continuing to increase, reinforcing carbon black producers' willingness to hold firm on pricing. However, the demand side lacks carrying capacity, with downstream players showing significant resistance to high prices, considerable pressure on procurement, and cautious purchasing follow-through, limiting actual price increase margins for new orders. The mutual restraint between cost-driven increases and demand-side suppression means that in the short term, the carbon black market will maintain a firm-price consolidation pattern, with limited room for movement in either direction.
