Titanium Daily — October 13
I. Titanium Market Overview
Titanium Ore
Today the Panxi titanium ore price index stood at 1,193.75, unchanged from yesterday. Domestic miners have kept operating loads at low levels and remain keen to hold prices, yet overall titanium ore prices are still at a low level. Downstream players have generally adopted a “produce-to-order, purchase-as-needed” strategy and trading sentiment has been thin. The imported titanium ore market is steady for now, but shipping pressure remains high, market inventories are elevated, spot circulation is slow and prices are trending weaker.
Titanium Slag
This month Southwest 85% low-calcium-magnesium titanium slag was lowered by CNY 50/ton, with transactions executed at CNY 4,850/ton, and the market overall has oscillated at a low level. Downstream companies hold ample feedstock inventories, new-order business is sluggish and shipments are under pressure; terminal demand for acid-soluble slag remains weak, keeping the market under pressure.
Titanium Tetrachloride
The titanium tetrachloride market is quoted at CNY 5,800–6,000/ton and continues to run steadily. Elevated chlorine prices upstream support production costs, keeping overall quotes firm.
Sponge Titanium
The sponge titanium market is running steady for now. Mainstream quotes for Grade 0 sponge titanium are around CNY 44,000–45,000/ton, while mainstream quotes for Grade 1 civilian-grade material are around CNY 43,000–44,000/ton. Downstream demand remains depressed, companies are struggling to win orders, supply and demand are in a weak balance, and the market is running weakly stable.
Titanium Dioxide
Today the titanium dioxide price index stood at 14,117.76, unchanged from yesterday. The domestic titanium dioxide market extended its steady consolidation. Producers are arranging output in an orderly way as planned and delivery pace remains stable. Demand is still soft: downstream inquiries are thin, end users are cautious about taking delivery and purchasing appetite is insufficient, so actual new orders are limited and a wait-and-see mood prevails. In the short term the market is expected to stay mainly steady.
