The world's largest intelligent, eco-friendly, multifunctional dredging vessel model debuts at the China Maritime Museum.
On September 8, the model of the core flagship vessel "Transportation Construction No. 10" of CCCC Shanghai Dredging Co., Ltd., known for its globally leading technological innovation, outstanding engineering achievements, and iconic industry status, was donated to the China Maritime Museum for permanent collection and exhibition. The world's largest intelligent, environmentally friendly, multifunctional laying vessel model will commemorate the five generations of iterative development and independent leadership of China's hydraulic engineering equipment, becoming a valuable physical historical artifact documenting the leap in new productivity within the industry. The predecessor of CCCC Shanghai Dredging Co., Ltd. was the Huangpu River Dredging Bureau, established in 1905 for dredging the Huangpu River, marking the beginning of China's modern national dredging industry. With 121 years of profound development heritage, Shanghai Dredging Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CCCC Shanghai Dredging Co., Ltd., has been deeply engaged in the laying construction field since the 1990s. Over more than two decades, through five generations of complete independent innovation and iteration, it has achieved a leap from manual mechanization and automation upgrades to intelligent integration and green leadership, building a fully domestically independent and globally leading intelligent laying equipment system, continuously driving technological innovation in underwater laying construction both domestically and globally. The fifth-generation flagship equipment "Transportation Construction No. 10" developed by CCCC Shanghai Dredging Co., Ltd. has achieved three global firsts in vessel size, single laying area, and process integration. It is currently the world's largest, most functionally integrated, most intelligent, and most environmentally friendly multifunctional intelligent laying vessel, setting new global industry technical standards. The vessel's hardware configuration leads the industry, equipped with specialized propulsion and side-thrust devices, enabling stable operations and emergency avoidance capabilities. It can fully adapt to all water conditions, including coastal shallows, deep-water ports, and river channels, widely serving national-level major projects such as embankment protection, port land reclamation, deep-water soft foundation treatment, underwater protection for cross-sea bridges, and ecological restoration of rivers and lakes. With modular integrated design, the vessel can quickly switch construction modes, integrating traditional soft mattress laying, concrete interlocking block laying, sandbag filling and caisson stone dumping, and deep-water soft foundation treatment, earning the nickname "Transformer on Water" in the hydraulic construction field. It is currently in active service, efficiently fulfilling various major engineering contracts. As a benchmark carrier of new productivity in the marine engineering field, this vessel is equipped with a self-developed integrated intelligent laying digital platform by Shanghai Dredging Co., Ltd., combining satellite high-precision positioning and underwater AR surveying technology. It achieves precise and controllable laying accuracy, automatic sand filling, intelligent hoisting, fully automated laying, one-click precise vessel movement, and visualized underwater construction with full-process collaborative operations. Compared to traditional construction team operations, this series of vessels reduces manpower input by one-third and increases daily construction capacity by 30%, driving the industry’s transformation from labor-intensive to technology-intensive and intelligent-intensive, significantly shortening the construction cycles of major projects and providing solid equipment support for the high-quality construction of numerous national mega-projects.In terms of green and low-carbon initiatives, this vessel is the world's only laying vessel to receive the green ship additional mark, pioneering the industry's first all-electric propulsion system, eliminating fuel leakage and water pollution risks at the source. The entire vessel adopts full-range variable frequency drive and vibration and noise reduction technology, achieving lower energy consumption and better emissions. Its production and domestic wastewater and exhaust emissions strictly adhere to the highest international environmental standards, making it highly suitable for projects such as Yangtze River protection, coastal wetland ecological restoration, and comprehensive governance of river and lake basins, setting a global benchmark for green construction and low-carbon operations in laying vessels. It is reported that CCCC Shanghai Dredging Co., Ltd. has initiated the construction of a new generation of intelligent shallow-draft laying vessels, precisely addressing the shortcomings of construction in extremely shallow wetland areas, achieving full-depth and full-scenario coverage for construction in shallow, nearshore, and deep-water environments.
