According to customs data, in September 2024, China imported 40,200 tons of soda ash, a year-on-year decrease of 74.84% and a month-on-month decrease of 50.02%; from January to September 2024, the total imported soda ash totaled approximately 932,200 tons, an increase of 154.73% year-on-year, and the import volume increased by approximately 566,200 tons.
In September, soda ash importing countries were: United Arab Emirates, the United States, and Pakistan, accounting for 53%, 42%, and 3% of the total imports respectively.
In September 2024, China exported 128,500 tons of soda ash, a year-on-year increase of 128.86% and a month-on-month increase of 53.97%; from January to September 2024, a total of 717,300 tons of soda ash were exported, a year-on-year decrease of 43.89%, and export volume decreased by approximately 561,100 tons.
Among them, the top three countries in soda ash exports in September were: Philippines, Nigeria, and Malaysia, accounting for 19%, 14%, and 14% of the total exports respectively.
