According to customs data, China imported 463900 tons of titanium ore in July 2024, an increase of 18.34% over the same period last year, an increase of 53.82% month-on-month, with an average monthly price of US $299.31 / ton.From January to July 2024, China imported a total of about 269.09 tons of ilmenite, an increase of 4.61 percent over the same period last year, and imports increased by about 118700 tons.
Among them, the top three countries in July were Mozambique, Australia and Norway, accounting for 47%, 17% and 8% of the total imports, respectively.
The total amount of imported ilmenite from January to July 2024 was significantly higher than that of the previous period, while imports of ilmenite from Nigeria, Egypt and Australia increased significantly. As of July, mainstream ilmenite such as Mozambique, Norway and Vietnam were affected by mines and markets, and imports were still decreasing compared with the same period last year.
In July 2024, China exported 1888.97 tons of titanium ore, an increase of 86.84% over the same period last year and a month-on-month decrease of 79.32%.From January to July 2024, China exported a total of about 46200 tons of ilmenite, an increase of 159.10 percent over the same period last year, and exports increased by about 28300 tons.
Titanium dioxide
In July 2024, China imported 9089.08 tons of titanium dioxide, an increase of 13.36 percent over the same period last year and 20.42 percent over the same period last year. Among them, 3055.21 tons of titanium dioxide were imported by sulfuric acid process in July, an increase of 3.18 percent over the previous month. Imports of titanium dioxide by sulfuric acid process totaled 17100 tons from January to July, while imports of titanium dioxide by chlorination process in July were 6033.87 tons, an increase of 31.56 percent over the same period last month. 39700 tons of titanium dioxide were imported from January to July.
From January to July 2024, China imported a total of about 56800 tons of titanium dioxide, an increase of 41.09 percent over the same period last year, and an increase of about 16500 tons.
Among them, the top three regions of titanium dioxide imports in July 2024 are Mexico, Australia and the United States, accounting for 40%, 23% and 15% of the total imports, respectively.

Among them, the export of titanium dioxide by sulfuric acid process in July was 134200 tons, which decreased by 8.66% compared with the previous month. From January to July, the export of titanium dioxide by sulfuric acid process decreased by a total of 924000 tons; in July, the export of titanium dioxide by chlorination process was 25500 tons, which decreased by 13.67% month-on-month. The export of titanium dioxide by chlorination process totaled 208300 tons.
From January to July 2024, China exported a total of about 1.1322 million tons of titanium dioxide, an increase of 16.47 percent over the same period last year, and exports increased by about 160100 tons.
Among them, the top three countries in July were India, Brazil and the United Arab Emirates, accounting for 17%, 8% and 6% of the total exports, respectively.
The average monthly import price of titanium dioxide from January to July in 2024 was 3272.88 US dollars / ton, down 9.18 percent from the same period last year. The average monthly export price of titanium dioxide from January to July was 2237.74 US dollars / ton, an increase of 2.06 percent over the same period last year.
Sponge titanium
In July 2024, China imported 0.002 tons of sponge titanium. From January to July, China imported 0.002 tons of titanium sponge. The importing country was Russia, which decreased by about 123.53 tons in the same period last year.
In July 2024, China exported 625.6 tons of sponge titanium, down 6.03% from the previous month and an increase of 92.56% over the same period last year.From January to July 2024, China exported a total of about 3051.2 tons of sponge titanium, an increase of 6.06 percent over the same period last year, and an increase of about 174.36 tons.
In July 2024, the top three regions of sponge titanium export were the United States, Japan and Taiwan, accounting for 34%, 23% and 19%, respectively.
