Recently, the research institute and Chongqing University jointly developed "A Continuous Casting Mold Flux for High-Titanium Steel and Its Preparation Method" successively obtained invention patents in South Korea and Japan, allowing Pangang to realize the first high-titanium steel converter continuous casting slab process production in China. It provides important technical support.
High-titanium steel has the advantages of high strength, lightweight, corrosion resistance, and aesthetics. It is widely used in engineering structure materials, molds and wear-resistant parts materials, construction machinery steel and other fields. However, because titanium in the steel reacts with oxides in the mold flux to form titanium oxide during the pouring process, continuous pouring and use of high-titanium steel cannot be achieved.
In view of the fact that traditional mold fluxes cannot meet the continuous casting requirements of high-titanium steel steel, this patent has designed a mold mold flux that meets the continuous casting requirements of high-titanium steel slab after systematic research, which solves the problem of melting point and viscosity of traditional mold fluxes when pouring high-titanium steel. Problems such as deterioration of slag conditions have been caused by rising melting point and viscosity have laid a foundation for large-scale and low-cost production of high-titanium steel and promoted the comprehensive utilization of vanadium-titanium resources in Panxi.
