Titanium Ore
According to customs data, China imported 412,600 tons of titanium ore in May 2023, with an average price of $387.93/ton, showing a year-on-year increase of 100.86% and a month-on-month increase of 19.18%. The accumulated import volume of the titanium ore from January to May 2023 was approximately 1.8625 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 26.91%, with an import volume increase of approximately 394,900 tons.
In April 2023, the top three countries for titanium ore imports were Mozambique, Vietnam, and Norway, accounting for 65%, 10%, and 9% of total imports respectively.
Titanium Dioxide
According to customs data, China's titanium dioxide import volume in April 2023 was about 6443.75 tons, showing a month-on-month increase of 16.24%, and a year-on-year decrease of 56.92%. The accumulated import volume of titanium dioxide from January to May 2023 was about 25,100 tons, an decrease of 62.53% compared to the same period last year, with an decreased export volume of about 42,000 tons.This year, due to market impact, the import volume of titanium dioxide has significantly decreased compared to last year, and the import price of titanium dioxide powder remains high. This has resulted in significant pressure on domestic downstream enterprises.
In April 2023, the top three regions for titanium dioxide imports were Chinese Taiwan, Japan, and Germany, accounting for 33%, 17%, and 14% of total imports respectively.
In May 2023, China's titanium dioxide export volume was about 144,600 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 14.84%, and a year-on-year increase of 8.66%. The accumulated export volume of titanium dioxide from January to April 2023 was about 566,000 tons, an increase of 11.72% compared to the same period last year, with an increased export volume of about 59,400 tons.The global economic environment is under great pressure, and domestic and foreign market demand is recovering slowly. However, this year, due to the continuous increase in exchange rates and the depreciation of the renminbi, the export market for titanium dioxide is benefiting. Although the FOB price of titanium dioxide has been adjusted downwards, the average export price continues to rise. It is expected that the overall export market for titanium dioxide will maintain a favorable trend this year.

Sponge Titanium
In May 2023, China exported 848.1 tons of sponge titanium, showing a month-on-month increase of 138.2% and a year-on-year increase of 230.20%. The accumulated export volume of the sponge titanium from January to May was 2218.48 tons, a year-on-year increase of 196.50%, with an increased export volume of about 1470.26 tons.
The top three regions for sponge titanium exports in May 2023 were Russia, Estonia, and Germany, accounting for 82%, 9%, and 2% respectively.
