Analysis on the Import and Export Data of Titanium Products from January to February 2023
Titanium Ore
According to customs data, China imported 289,000 tons of titanium ore in January 2023, with an average price of $376.70/ton, imported 352,900 tons of titanium ore in February 2023, with an average price of $375.48/ton. The total accumulated import volume of the titanium ore from January to February was approximately 673,200 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.1%, with an import volume increase of approximately 13,900 tons.
From January to February 2023, the top three countries for titanium ore imports were Mozambique, Norway, and Senegal, accounting for 50%, 10%, and 9% of total imports respectively.
Titanium Dioxide
According to customs data, China's titanium dioxide export volume in January 2023 was about 131,600 tons, and 154,200 tons of export volume in February. The accumulated export volume of titanium dioxide from January to February 2023 was 285,800 ton, a year-on-year increase of 17.63%, with an increased export volume of about 42,800 tons.
From January to February 2023, the top three countries for titanium dioxide exports was India, Turkey, and Brazil, accounting for 17%, 7%, and 6% of total export volume respectively.
From January to February 2023, among the top ten countries for titanium dioxide exports, India exported 20,300 tons, Turkey exported 10,900 tons, and Brazil exported 8,300 tons. India, ranking the first in terms of total export volume, experienced a substantial increase compared to the previous period. Currently, the international market for titanium dioxide shows strong demands, and many companies have exported a large amount of titanium dioxide in the first quarter. The FOB price of titanium dioxide also maintained an upward trend, with the current quote for rutile grade titanium dioxide FOB at $2400 per ton.
The average monthly export price of titanium dioxide from January to February 2023 was $2108.93 per ton, a decrease of 29.8% compared to the same period last year. The average monthly import price of titanium dioxide from January to February was $3740.69 per ton, a 12.4% increase compared to the same period last year.
In January 2023, China imported 3,647.19 tons of titanium dioxide, and in February, it imported 4,828.61 tons. From January to February 2023, China imported a total of approximately 8,475.80 tons of titanium dioxide, a decrease of 64.60% compared to the same period last year, with a reduction of approximately 15,465.29 tons in import volume.
From January to February 2023, the top three countries for titanium dioxide exports was Chinese Taiwan, Japan, and Germany, accounting for 25%, 18%, and 13% of total import volume respectively.
Sponge Titanium
In January 2023, China imported 90 tons of sponge titanium, and imported 10.05 tons of sponge titanium in February. The accumulated import volume of the sponge titanium was 100.05 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 96.38%, with a decreased import volume of about 2,662.91 tons.
The sponge titanium import source countries from January to February were Saudi Arabia and Japan, accounting for 90% and 10% of the total import volume of sponge titanium respectively.
In January 2023, China exported about 81.2 tons of sponge titanium, and exported 363.5 tons of sponge titanium in February. The accumulated exports volume of sponge titanium in China from January to February 2023 were about 444.7 tons, a year-on-year increase of 562.45%, with an increase of about 377.58 tons of export volume.
The top three regions for sponge titanium exports from China from January to February 2023 were South Korea, Russia, and Netherlands, accounting for 25%, 22%, and 13% respectively.
