Baotou is a modern industrial city in Inner Mongolia. An industrial city that has gradually developed and grown with the construction of national key projects, has the largest steel, aluminum, equipment manufacturing and rare earth processing enterprises in Inner Mongolia, and is an important energy, raw materials, rare earth, new coal chemical and equipment manufacturing base in the country and Inner Mongolia. Bayan Obo is rich in mineral resources, containing rare earth minerals accounting for more than 41% of the world's total proven reserves, as well as rich iron, niobium, manganese, phosphorus, fluorite and other 182 kinds of mineral resources and 71 kinds of mineral elements, which are famous all over the world. The resource reserves rank two first and two second in the world, among them, the rare earth reserves are 100 million tons, accounting for 38% of the world's total proven reserves, ranking first in the world.
During the exchange, Bai Yonggang, member of the Standing Committee of the People's Government of Bayan Obo Mining Area of Baotou City and executive deputy head of the government, said: "Bayan Obo will be fully built into an industrial park for the development and opening up of the whole region, in which with the iron ore smelting and selecting industry, comprehensive utilization of mineral and tailings resources, chemical industry, new energy and rare earth application of new materials as the pillar of the industrial development pattern is becoming more and more mature, with the comprehensive utilization of mineral and tailings resources and rare earth application of new materials as the leading industrial chain development foundation has been initially formed, and there are 12 enterprises above designated size such as Linfeng Technology with an annual processing capacity of 6 million tons of raw ore and an annual output of 1.88 million tons of iron concentrate powder and 200,000 tons of rare earth concentrate powder, which provides important raw material support for the development of equipment manufacturing and non-ferrous metal industry in Baotou City.
