Cabot buys Chinese carbon black manufacturer
Cabot is a world leader in the production and operation of carbon black for industrial tires, industrial rubber carbon black and specialty carbon black. Carbon black production ranks first in the world. In December 2003, Cabot (China) Investment Co., Ltd. was established in Shanghai with the approval of the Ministry of Commerce of China.
On August 30, 2018, Cabot completed the acquisition of Nitrolong (Jiangsu) Carbon Black Co., Ltd. After the acquisition, the name of the company was changed to Cabot Performance Materials (Xuzhou) Co., Ltd., and the shareholders were also renewed. Carbon Co., Ltd. changed to Cabot (China) Investment Co., Ltd.
Nitrolong (Jiangsu) Carbon Black Co., Ltd. was established in June 2013 and is located in Zhangzhou, Jiangsu Province. It has a registered capital of 450 million and is a Japanese-owned enterprise. With an annual output of 50,000 tons of carbon black project, the total investment is 420 million yuan. The project was completed and put into production in August 2015. The main customers are Youke Haoma, Wanda Baotong and so on.
Cabot said that the plant will be temporarily shut down for maintenance and technology upgrades. It is estimated that about 50 million US dollars will be invested in the next two years to speed up production.
