Construction begins on a 60,000-ton heavy-lift ship with a bulbous bow design between China and Poland.
On the morning of September 28, China-Poland Company officially started the construction of a new round of 60,000-ton series heavy-lift ships with bow bridge navigation.
The new ship design features a length of 199.9 meters, a beam of 32.26 meters, a total deadweight of 60,800 tons, and a combined lifting capacity of up to 400 tons. The bow bridge offers an unobstructed view, and the deck can accommodate larger and taller cargo. The No. 2 cargo hold of the new ship uses an open design, where the hatch cover can be removed to create an open space, and the hold is equipped with drainage facilities, allowing for the transportation of equipment exceeding the height of the hold. The new ship will be equipped with higher-strength open decks and 2 to 3 adjustable layers of hatch covers inside the hold to meet the loading and transportation needs of heavy and oversized equipment such as energy storage cabinets, transformers, and large gantry cranes.
The current series of 60,000-ton ships by China-Poland Company includes a total of 6 vessels, with a combined deadweight of approximately 364,000 tons. Construction for all ships is expected to start by the end of May 2027, and deliveries are scheduled to begin gradually from September 2027 onwards.
